Fort Morgan Public Library Internet Policy

Fort Morgan Public Library Internet Policy

Patrons must bring their own library card to use an Internet computer or the word processor. There is a guest card available; ask at circulation. Blocked or delinquent patrons may not use the Internet or word processor.

Although we cannot and do not provide the kind of supervision parents would give to their own child, we do provide filters for the juvenile computers (1,2 & 5). We do encourage parents to use the library with their children and help select materials and resources for their child's use--this includes use of the Internet. Access to the CARL system and the EBSCO databases are available without restriction.

Users of Internet resources are reminded that there is no guarantee that information obtained via the Internet is accurate, complete, or current. It is the responsibility of the user to evaluate information found on the Internet.

Internet users must read and understand the Internet policy.

To provide for the greatest access to the limited number of Internet stations, we request that individuals limit their use to a one hour session per day.

Library patrons must not interfere with the use of the Internet by other patrons.

Library patrons should be discreet and considerate of others when viewing material.

Public library staff will provide basic instruction for accessing Internet as time allows.

The use of the Internet is free.

Because of space limitations, we ask there be only one person at a terminal at any one time unless the second person is a parent accompanying a child, an adult helping another adult, or two students working together quietly on a school assignment.

  • Access to Internet use and use of your library card / account, may be restricted or denied by the Fort Morgan Public Library staff if the user violates the following:

Fees for pages that are printed and not paid for will be placed on your account. Black and white copies are 20 cents per page. Color copies are 75 cents per page.

Outside software may be used on the word processing computer. You may also save your work to the hard drive and retrieve it later. Be aware, however, that hard drives are cleaned on a weekly basis, usually on Wednesday evenings. You may lose your file if you save it to the hard drive. Extensions for flash drives are also provided.
